PenFed, being an American brand with strong military values and history has been providing services in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico for more than eighty years. As part of our growth strategy for this market, our main challenge was to connect and build trust with the residents of Puerto Rico, not just active military and veteran families; in a way that respected their culture and language.
Our objectives were first, to increase PenFed’s recognition as an inclusive institution where all Puerto Ricans and their culture are respected and considered important. Second, we aimed to increase membership and deposit and loan volume in the island.
